For anyone coming to Connecticut, one of the first things they complain to the locals about are the roads. “How do you know where you’re going?”, “That doesn’t even look like a road”, “There are more potholes than I can count”, and the often intoned “Does everyone live in the woods?!”

Connecticut back roads are some of the most challenging in the country. There are a multitude of factors that go into this, but they certainly aren’t insurmountable. Here is a side-by-side comparison between driving on main roads versus navigating our, sometimes, harrowing back roads.
